July 4th Health & Safety Tips

Independence Day is a wonderful time to celebrate with family, gather for barbecues, and enjoy outdoor activities. A few simple movement habits can help protect your body so you can spend the holiday making memories instead of dealing with aches and pains.

1
Pace Your Activities
+
If you’ve been relatively inactive, don’t jump straight into intense backyard games. Give your muscles and joints time to warm up and adapt.
2
Lift Heavy Items Properly
+
Keep coolers, grills, and bags of ice close to your body, lift with your legs, and pivot your feet instead of twisting your back.
3
Change Positions Often
+
Avoid sitting in lawn chairs or standing in one place for hours. Stretch or take a short walk every 30 minutes to reduce stress on your joints.
4
Stay Hydrated
+
Summer heat and activity increase your body’s need for water. Staying hydrated helps support muscles, joints, and overall energy.
5
Listen to Your Body
+
Take breaks when needed and avoid pushing through pain. Small adjustments today can prevent bigger problems tomorrow.
6
Address Aches Early
+
If soreness or strain lingers after the holiday weekend, a mechanical assessment by a physical therapist can help identify the source and get you back to feeling your best.

10/10 would recommend anyone to come here if they have serious pain and need real pain management after injuries, etc.”
